Beyond ad performance optimization

When we talk about optimization in AdSense, we usually focus on testing different formats, colors, and locations for your ad units. But it’s just as important, if not more so, to optimize your site’s content to be make it as user-friendly as possible. Which homepage design do your users respond most to? Which headline or graphic will entice your users to spend more time reading your articles? Knowing the answers can help you implement the most user-friendly elements, increasing user loyalty and engagement. Which FeedReader are You Using?

Come On Guys, suggest something good to me.

I am tired of iGoogle, the reason being is because you can’t have a gmail account and a adsense account together it is really annoying when you have to sign out of your adsense and than sign into your igoogle homepage.

I have heard good things about netvibes, and like the look and feel of the site. Is there something that i am missing my peeps?

Let me know what you use. I was thinking about using outlook express’s, but the look and feel just don’t go for me.

Let me know. The reader has to be accessible from many computers, so something like thunderbird would not cut it.

If I take your suggestion you get a free .info domain of MY choice.

Updated Terms and Conditions

Every now and then, we update the AdSense Terms and Conditions to make sure they’re in line with policies across Google, and to prepare for future changes to the products and services we offer. As part of these regular updates, you’ll soon sign in to your account and see that the Terms have been updated, prompting you to read through and accept them. This time around, most of the changes to the Terms and Conditions fall into two broad categories: 1) future products and features and 2) privacy requirements. Specifically, one of the main changes is that the terms anticipate future products that may become available in other advertising formats and mediums, for example Gadget Ads. As we look forward to monetizing more online and offline content, we’ve re-worded some portions of the terms to make them applicable across a broader array of media and formats — anticipating, for example, that future products may be priced, paid, or managed differently than current ones. We’ve also added some specific requirements that make it necessary for publishers to post and abide by a transparent privacy policy that users see. According to this policy, publishers must notify their users of the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process. This change relates to advertisers’ use of innovative products and features like Gadget Ads and other offerings in the future. The changes aren’t limited to the areas above, however; we’ve made small changes throughout, so it’s a good idea for you to review them thoroughly before accepting.Posted by Julie Beckmann - AdSense Publisher Support

Snapbomb-Another Get Paid To Review Site

Despite the slaps on page rank by google I still see the rise of new get paid to review programs like this one I came to know about - it’s called Snapbomb! A quite peculiar name don’t you think? What is Snapbomb? It’s a get paid to review site my fellow bloggers. Which means you write for advertisers and get paid, similar to other get paid to review programs.Registration and Page RankRegistering at Snapbomb is free. Page Rank is not even a consideration. This is a big big big plus! For years page rank has always been the basis of acceptance in money making programs which hinders other bloggers from monetizing their sites. Well, not anymore with Snapbomb! If you have PR-o blog, good news fellows you can join Snapbomb! I could see the smiles of those with PR-0. If you have pr-0 blog there is absolutely nothing to lose but everything to gain in this site. How it works?First you need to register to Snapbomb, for free. You will only provide your name, email address and your password. After that you will add your blogs. Immediately after adding your blog, Snapbomb will calculate your blog’s base value|worth giving you a range of the minimum to the maximum value you can get paid for the post|reviews you make. You can add as many blogs as you want. The more blogs you register, the more money you make, the merrier life gets!important faqDisclosure on paid reviews is not required but snapbomb recommends it. It’s up to you if you will disclose or not. Payment is by Paypal or check with a minimum of $25. However it pays on a Net 60 basis so that’s two months reckoned from the time you make your reviews. That’s a long waiting to get your money. This is the downside I see with Snapbomb. However, if you can wait for 6 months before you get your first pay from adsense because of your low earnings, I don’t think it will be problem for you to wait two months right? And if snapbomb really pays teh waiting will be worth it. Curious? Visit Snapbomb here! For advertisers, create a buzz for your product, company or website through Snapbomb. The clever part about Snapbomb as an advertising venue is that advertisers can monitor the buzz activity about their product or website through Snapbomb’s buzz analytics. See image below. This is something you won’t find in other buzz marketing programs. In sum, Snapbomb is very inviting to both bloggers and advertisers. With all the highlights of the site it will surely attract a lot of bloggers and advertisers. The only thing that’s missing is the proof of payment which is the final measure of how true and legit the site really is. I will be on the look out if the site really pays and as usual I will let you know of it! So stick around!

Reader Advice: 3 Reminders for Building and Growing Online Income

Reader Advice

JMMO reader Eddy Salomon says:

“Here are few that have helped me quit my full time corporate career this past November and work at home full time as an Internet marketer.

1. Diversify your sources of income. There was a time I just depended all on AdSense and ignored everything else. When I saw Google was acting a bit inconsistent with the funds, I went back to fundamentals. I added different type of lead based affiliate programs to my site.

Results: The lead based programs I started promoting combined make me more than Google per month. And I’m still collecting checks with Google. Diversify!

2. Lather, rinse and repeat! I started tracking everything much closer to see what things were working well on my sites and which weren’t. If something worked really well on my homepage (which was always the testing ground because of the concentration of traffic), I then repeated it on my secondary pages. Rinse and Repeat. This can be done over and over again. I’ve increased my income nearly every month doing this process without necessarily getting any new traffic.

3. Don’t get complacent. A few years back, I thought I was the man because I was earning thousands of dollars per month with Google. But then, they started paying me less and I was stuck for a while. I had gotten complacent. I didn’t have the same hunger, so I had stopped looking for other opts (opportunities?) that would’ve made me money. But as I stated above, I corrected that and added to my revenue stream. And even though I’m doing really well now, I’ve got a mindset of someone that is struggling and poor. So, I’m always looking at my site and trying to figure out how I can squeeze more money out of it.

Those 3 things have helped me quit a full time job of close to 90k to run my websites full time.”

AdSense for Video Goes into Beta Testing

I’m literally running out the door for a week’s vacation but the news broke last night that AdSense for Video has finally come out of it’s initial pilot testing into a wider beta test. You can read about it on the AdSense blog or check out an overview of it with this video.

Keep in mind - these are not video ads - but ads that become embedded in video that you show on your blog.

At this point it’s a US publisher only test (grrrr) but I’m assured that other parts of the world will come into the program at some point (I got the sense it wouldn’t be too long). There’s more information on the blog or here on their Video Advertising Solutions page.

Fueling creativity in online video - with AdSense for video beta

We know that publishers are quickly adding video to their sites and looking for ways to earn additional revenue. If this sounds like you, look no further than AdSense for video, our solution for qualifying publishers. You may remember that we announced AdSense for video as a pilot last May.Since then, we’ve tested a variety of ad formats with the interest of users, publishers and advertisers in mind. As a result, we’ve decided that AdSense for video will use the InVideo ads adopted on our own property, YouTube, which enable advertisers to make a single buy at scale. Also competing in the auction - and unique to AdSense for video and AdSense video units - are text overlay ads which are contextually targeted to signals in your videos and on the page where the video lives. The InVideo ads are paid on a CPM basis, while the text overlay ads are paid on a CPC basis. You can see ad demos here. While we’ll continue to test a variety of ad formats, we believe that overlays are the best way to balance user experience with the needs of our publishers.AdSense for video is now available to publishers who, at a minimum, serve one million video streams each month and are based in the U.S. with English language sites. In the near future, we do plan to expand the program to more publishers of various sizes and locations. You may be wondering how this offering differs from the other video advertising solutions that AdSense (and YouTube) have rolled out in the last year. To give you an overview, we’ve launched a site at www.google.com/videoadsolutions. To apply for AdSense for video beta, please visit the AdSense for video page on the Google Video Advertising Solutions site. You can also learn about the various ways to earn revenue from video content by watching this video. Posted by Ryan Hayward and Lilly Wolfson — AdSense Product Marketing/Publisher Support

In for a penny, in for a pound key

As more publishers are being asked to complete the phone verification process, we’ve received a number of puzzled emails from our international community asking about the prompt to ‘press the pound key’. To clarify, the ‘pound key’ refers to the ‘#’ symbol (also known as the hash key), and not the ‘₤’ symbol. The pound/hash key can typically be found below the ‘9′ key. We’re working on perfecting our non-US English, and we apologise for any confusion caused ;)Posted by Arlene Lee - AdSense Publisher Support

Make Money With BlgAds

Pay Per Click Programs are still one of the best ways to make money from. Google Adsense for instance has been dominating this field for a long time. But Google Adsense is very strict. For instance one blogger got banned for mentioning the word “p*nis” and the banning took place more than 6months after the article containing that word was written. And the blog concerned was receiving thousands of visitors a day. What a loss! I still couldn’t get the reason for the disparity between the time the violative article was written and the time the account was banned.Google Adsense is really strict, that’s why bloggers should always be on guard and read the TOS every now and then. I am running a celebrity blog and it gets a decent amount of traffic everyday but it has no adsense ads on it. You probably guessed why.My latest discovery is BlgAds. It’s a pay per click program which I intend to use instead of adsense. BlgAds works like any ppc programs. You display ads in your blog, ranging from different shapes and sizes-banners, buttons, and you get paid when someone clicks on the ads. Basically almost the same as other ppc programs. But take note, the program has a low minimum payout of $30. Not only that you can request for payment once you reach that amount and within 7 days from request you will get your payment. That’s better than waiting for a month to get your pay like what most PPC programs offer. The mode of payment is wire transfer which is very ideal. You can get your money ASAP. However there is a $15 fee for wire transfers!Looking at the brighter side, in my case I don’t like to wait for my withdrawal in paypal to be completed, then wait for days again to see the money in my eon account. I think I can handle the $15 fee besides, that’s my share of getting the hard earned money quick. But I would be more happy if I see the fee lowered to $5. But hey, BlgAds is currently working on adding other payment methods. So we can hope that they add paypal in the list.In sum, I don’t think it hurts to try out new ppc and blog advertising network. The more ppc programs there is in the blogosphere the more choices bloggers have in monetizing and making money online. These ppc programs will also compete with each other. Each will try to give the best offers to publishers which will work out to our advantage.
