Make Money Money Online With No Investment - No Product - No Expertise?

A friend of my wife asked me the other day:

The question I have—and this probably won’t be in an organized form—is:

Do you have any tips, advice, suggestions, recommendations, etc. for someone in this scenario?

An at-home mom who did not have a professional job before having and staying home with her kids. The economy is tanking, and maybe her husband has been laid off or had his hours cut back a little or a lot. She really doesn’t want to dump her kids in daycare to go get a job because any job she could get would just about cover the daycare and other job-related expenses. She’d love to work from home, but doesn’t have any ‘expert’ knowledge about anything that she could turn into a marketable enterprise; she doesn’t have the know-how to teach people to make money, so making money by helping others try to make money isn’t an option. She makes no products, therefore has nothing tangible to sell. She doesn’t have the money to invest in the hundreds upon hundreds of ‘I will teach you how to make money’ programs out there.

Is there anything online that she could do, or in this case would dumping the kids in daycare and hoping for the best be pretty much the only hope?

I get questions similar to this all the time. Before I can answer this question in detail I would need to ask quite a few questions to give the most relevant answer that I can.

The first question I would ask is…

Do you have absolutely no money to invest or do you have say 10 dollars, 20 dollars, 100 dollars, 200 dollars, 500 dollars, 1000 dollars, or more?

The answer to this question will greatly influence what options you have.

The more money you have to the invest, the easier it will be to make money online.

If you have enough money to pay for a domain name (about 10 dollars/yr), then I suggest getting your own domain name. If you have enough to invest in web hosting (about 50-100 dollars/yr), then I suggest you get a web host, if you have enough to get an autoresponder (about $200/yr with Aweber) then I suggest you get an autoresponder or sign up for SiteSell. If you have more money then you can do other things like spend money on an Internet marketing education.

If you have absolutely no money to spend then it’s going to be harder, but still possible.

I have no product to sell, how do I make money online?

Well, there are a ton of ways you can make money online when you don’t have a product including creating a new product. Also, you can do affiliate marketing, get advertisers for your site, sell services, etc. But before we go into the details, let’s explore some of the other questions…

I have no expertise what I can do to make money online?

I seriously doubt that people who are smart enough to ask this question aren’t good enough at something to have some level of expertise in it. While you may not consider yourself an “expert” at anything you probably have more expertise in some things than other things. For instance, if you do the laundry without ruining your clothes you definitely have more of an expertise in washing clothes than I do.

Legendary direct marketer, Dan Kennedy, has a great quote that does a great job of answering this question. Dan says,

“In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king!”

You don’t have to be the best to be an “expert”, you just have to know a little bit more than the people you are teaching. In fact, you only need to know ONE thing about the topic you are teaching that your students don’t know in order to be an expert to your students. Do you know more math than a two year old? You can put up a site that teaches kids artithmetic. Do you know how to wash laundry (the right way), then you can teach me:)

So How Do You Make Money Online With No Money, And No Products To Sell?

For the sake of argument let’s assume that you are working with absolutely no money and no products.

There are still many ways to make money online in your spare time when you have no money to invest. Some of these ways don’t even require you to have a website. Let’s start by talking about the ways to make money online without a website.

How do I make money online when I have no website?

1. Online Tutoring / Coaching
If you have any expertise at all you can set up a tutoring or coaching service. Do you ever help your kids with their homework? If yes, then you can help tutor other kids online.

One easy way to do this is through LivePerson.com. There are many other places looking for tutors (like tutor.com) with expertise . Just do a search on your favorite Search Engine for those types of work at home opportunities. There are a lot of them.

2. Web Writing
If you can write decently (not necessarily like a professional) then you can get work as a freelance web writer. You don’t have to be perfect either. There are a lot of people who will hire you if the price is right. You can get jobs writing for blog posts, web articles, forum posts, comments, ebooks, etc. A good way to find people searching for writing jobs is to sign up on a site like elance.com or guru.com. Another way to find writing opportunities is to use your favorite Search Engine and search the Internet for things like “blog writing jobs”, etc.

If you can write you could also write for sites like Squidoo that will pay you for writing pages on their site. You have to learn how to set up the Squidoo pages, but once you figure that out, it’s pretty easy to create new Lenses. Every month that you make a certain amount of money Squidoo will send you money for a part of the money they made from advertisements on your Lens (Squidoo page). There are other sites that do this as well, like Hubpages.

In order to make decent money from Squidoo you are going to need to write a lot of popular Lenses and you are going to learn how to promote Squidoo Lenses and make the most you can from them. I haven’t reviewed any products on making money with Squidoo so I can’t recommend anything. If making money on Squidoo interests you then you can search for information on it. You can read my personal thoughts on how to make money with Squidoo by clicking here.

3. Selling Photos
If you have a digital camera and you can take half way decent photos then you can just take photos of everything you see and start selling them on a site like istockphoto.com. There are other things you can do with the photos, but those require a website of your own, which we will get to later.

4. Ebay
There are a lot of things you can sell on ebay or other auction sites. You don’t have to sell expensive/unique/insane items to make money on Ebay. You can sell simple items that people buy all the time.

You don’t even have to own anything to sell on ebay. You can simply find companies that are known as dropshippers and sell their stuff on ebay. Drop shipping is a technique where you sell products from one or more suppliers who take care of shipping the products directly to the customer. All you do is take the order and get the money from the customer, then you send the order details and and part of the money that you charge to the supplier. You make profit on the difference between the suppliers price (including shipping) and the price you charge the customer. This is essentially running a wholesale business without the inventory, although you will usually pay somewhere between true wholesale and retail prices for the goods.

When selling products on ebay you obviously need to buy them low and sell them high. One example of something people successfully sell on ebay for a profit is used books. Used books sell pretty well on ebay. What you can do is go to flea markets, garage sales, etc. to find good deals on books and sell them on ebay. To increase your profit margin, you can buy a software that turns your PDA or cellphone into a scanner that you can take with you to scan the books ISBN number and then find it’s price online (see http://www.asellertool.com/home.html) for an example of this type of service).

That way you only buy books at a price that you know are going to make you money.

4. Job Recruiting
Help your friends, family and others find new jobs. There are several sites that help you start a recruiting business of your own without any costs on your part. They pay you to find other people jobs. Essentially they enable you to run a job recruiting business from the comfort of your own home. A few examples of job recruiting sites that you can earn money from are ReferEarns, Bohire and WiseStepp.

5. Connect Business Suppliers With Buyers
Much like recruiting where you connect employers with employees, you can now connect business suppliers with businesses that need their supplies. Several companies that you can do this with are Salesconx, InnerSell and uRefer. This is actually a lot like affiliate marketing.

6. Other Freelancing services
People will pay you to do all kinds of things online. You can moderate forums, write articles (which I mentioned earlier), design websites, be a virtual assistant, etc. There are many ways to make money online even without having a website. Do a search on your favorite Search Engine to find other great freelancing opportunities online.

How Do I Make Money Online With A Website

Making money online with a website is what most people think of when they think of making money online. If you have no money to invest in web hosting you are going to need to find a free website host.

Here are a couple that I recommend you check out for starters:

blogger.com
Blogger is a free blogging site that allows you to create your own blog and unlike many free blogging services you can put ads on your site. Blogger integrates really easily with Adsense ads, because Google owns blogger.com and has made it very easy to make money from Adsense with blogger blogs.

Google Aps – Google Sites
Google Sites lets you create websites that you can add advertising on etc. It is an easy to use system that can give you an online presence for your website.

Weebly
Weebly is a very easy to use free website creator. They also have built-in support for adding Adsense on your Weebly sites. It’s another good option for those who can’t afford to pay for web hosting.

There are other options for free web hosting as well. Check around, just make sure that they can be used for commercial purposes (many of them can’t).

Once you have a website there are a number of ways you can make money from it. Most of these require you to be a decent writer (not great, but decent).

If you can’t write then skip to number 3.

1. Content Site
There are many ways to make money with a content site. You can put affiliate ads on content sites, you can put up ads from Adsense (or similar services like Kontera, Chitika, etc.), you can make money selling advertising on your site, you can market products as an affiliate, and you can even make money on content sites by having private content that only subscribers can read.

If you are trying to make money with a content site, I highly recommend you first read my article on choosing the right niche, then read the free ebook called “The Affiliate Masters Course”. You can use the same techniques outlined in the ebook on your freely hosted site. I use similar techniques to what is outlined in the ebook, the only difference is that I use multiple methods of keyword research (including my favorite keyword tool for Adsense sites Keyword Country).

2. Blogging
Blogging is really just a sub-type of a content site. What you need to do is:

1. Set up a blog on blogger.com.
2. Get links to the blog.
3. Put up advertising.

Probably the easiest way to make money with a blog is to set up a blog that has the sole purpose of reviewing other websites. There are a lot of websites (payperpost.com, reviewme.com, etc.) that will help match you up with people willing to pay you to review their website or product. Some people make pretty decent money this way.

3. Splogging
I hate to mention it, but it is a way you can make money online without any money, any expertise and any products. What you would do is get free content from article directories and repost the articles on your blog. Another way you might get your content is by scraping other people’s websites. There are quite a few ebooks about how to make money splogging, and I would prefer not to spend time on all of these techniques. Just search for things like “make money splogging” “blog and ping” “make money with scraper sites” and you will find plenty of resource to help you out with this.

4. Photo Site
You can set up a site that displays your photos and let people use the photos for free as long as they link to your site. You make money by putting up advertising, Adsense ads, and/or affiliate links on the site.

5. Selling ebooks
You can set up a site to sell ebooks for free, but it’s going to mean you have to be able to write the ebook yourself. If you have a little bit of money to invest you can buy a Private Label Rights ebook to sell. Private label rights (PLR) ebooks are ebooks that you buy the rights to sell as your own. Most PLR ebooks have slightly different terms that spell out what you can and can’t do with the ebook. I prefer to buy Master Resale rights where I can do anything I want with the ebook, including being able to sell other people resale rights on the ebook. If you buy a PLR ebook or product to sell, be sure to know exactly what you can and can’t do with it. Another way easy way to create an ebook is to find an expert in something, interview them by asking commonly asked questions in their field of expertise. Then sell the interview as an ebook or audio or both. You might need to split the profits with the expert or work some other deal with the expert (allow the expert to promote their products or services in the interview, etc.).

Summary

There are actually quite a few other ways to make money online if you don’t have money, products, or expertise. Some of these ways (like selling people’s email addresses, spamming, etc.) are not good ideas in my opinion, so I didn’t cover them here. Some of them like taking paid surveys don’t usually provide enough income to make them worthwhile.

If you do have money to spend then you can spend it on various things to speed up the process. You can buy Private Label Right Products that you can then turn around and sell. You can pay for web hosting, writers, web designers, etc. The more money you have to invest the easier it is to start a successful business. However, as I have already shown it is possible to make money online starting with no money, it’s just NOT as easy.

For further research you might want to read my getting started article called “Ways To Make Money Online”.

Making Money with Affiliate Marketing

Let me start by apologizing ahead of time for being a manipulative bastard. I’ve just finished a set of tests on this blog and now I want to explain a few things to you about the world of Internet marketing. Some of this you will have heard before but even you seasoned readers should read on.I just convinced several hundred people to download a firefox add-on that apparently doesn’t work and only Paul from Internet Marketing Product Reviews dared mention that Brad Callen’s products tend to be crap. After having a few PPC friends check their own ads with the PPC Web Spy tool - we found out that it didn’t bring up their keywords. In fact it looks like the tool simply digs out the relevant keywords and CPC much like keyword elite does from the same source - Google. It doesn’t appear to show the advertisers individual keywords or bids after all. If any of you use PPC then please check your own ads and let me know if the tool is working. Why do so many people trust the word of others (yes even me) and never bother to check things out for themselves? This is the X factor.Do you know who really succeeds online? The people who think for themselves, the people who take everything with a grain of salt and verify things on their own. The people who know how to separate the bullshit from legitimate information.I shouldn’t have to tell you folks to verify the things I say. You should be doing it on your own. Now I realize many of you wouldn’t call bullshit on me in the comments out of friendship or respect but no one did it quietly in an email either. I can list on one hand people who have taken me to task in the past - Fiar from Political Humor, Gary from Everything Everywhere, Frank at How to Earn Money Online and a few others. I love these guys and can tell you they will be successful. They sniff out the bullshit and think for themselves. (I don’t want too many links but Terry, Trent, RT, Splork all belong in this category as well). Considering the amount of readers I have the list is small. I’m not trying to insult anyone or show a lack of respect - I truly value all the friends I’ve made with this blog but I am trying to point out one of the biggest factors when in comes to being successful online or elsewhere. Think for yourself. Why do the A-List have such large fan bases? Because the majority of people trying to make money online don’t think or verify anything. They just follow along doing whatever the so-called expert tells them to do. They are a gold mine for anyone who wants to manipulate them. I can just imagine how much money I would have made if I had told everyone that PPC Web Spy was a great affiliate product and buy the upgrade!I joke all the time about how I am just setting my readers up in order to scam you all big time one of these days. The scary thing is I probably could. (I won’t but I’ll keep threatening) Now there is a point to this other than being a jerk. A recurring theme in my emails is “Please talk more about internet marketing”. The emails aren’t asking for advice on selling “Oil Filters” - the people all have MMO blogs of one kind or another and they want in on the whole “selling IM products to Bloggers and IMer’s” niche. Now instead of me telling you how broke you will be following that path I set up this little experiment to show you results instead. I’m not pulling the PPC Web Spy banner down just yet. My readers have had a crack at it and now I will see what kind of response I get from my search traffic. Here are some stats. 9156 visitors have seen the banner. 218 people downloaded it with my link. No idea how many may have downloaded it without the link.No one paid for an upgrade. (Thankfully)So you want to sell to internet marketers huh?I only got a 4.2% conversion for a “free” download. And not a single sale. Remember I have a lot of targeted traffic, I’m seen (I think) as reasonably honest and this is all I could pull off. How well do you think you are going to do selling to other Internet marketers? One of the biggest problems with this whole online biz is assumptions. People assume a site with 5000 visitors a day must make a killing selling things. People see someone with 50,000 feed readers and assume they get 50,000 visitors a day - not. Do you really think Darren Rowse makes a killing everyday selling the crap in his banners? No. He makes money selling ads to others who put up the banners and they make nothing from his traffic. The assumptions stem from the fact that no one who has a large traffic base is willing to tell people just how few affiliate sales are made in the IM niche. Rowse won’t admit it or he wouldn’t get advertisers willing to pay big bucks to put their ads on his site. One of the reasons for me adding that banner is to gauge my own CTR when it comes to selling advertising space on top of my blog. I have run a few different banners just to see what an advertiser might expect. The results are woeful. In fact after this episode I don’t think I will offer the ad spot. My Adsense revenue takes a beating (a loss of about 30% ctr every time I’ve added a banner). This means charging an advertiser at least $50 a day for the ad. Unfortunately the advertiser won’t get their money’s worth and that bugs me. I know others would just sell the spot and don’t care about the results but I don’t want my name dragged through the mud for ripping people off.You have all heard the saying that there is no money in selling to other bloggers. With the exception of the developers and their handful of super-affiliates this is true. Even then the return is small. Callen may make a few grand from his latest venture but he won’t retire on it. In a month he will be flogging something else. He has too to keep a steady income coming in. But Griz - you’re in the MMO niche so there must be money in it… right. Yup - using Adsense there is. Selling products? Nope. ( Yes alright - with my targeted search traffic I could probably sleaze out a living scamming beginners but would you want to do that?)Think on this. If I put through 9000 people in two days on my shoe site how many affiliate sales (or leads) do you think I would have compared to the IM crowd? Actually it’s not as high as you think but still a world away from IM. On average my conversions are in the 8-12% range and sometimes a lot higher when a hot seller comes along. Strangely enough I still tend to do better with Adsense than affiliate sales. The thing is, civilians buy and click. IMer’s don’t and while you are tired of hearing this I thought some hard numbers might get the point across. If I can’t make a good buck selling crap to bloggers do you really think you will with a fraction of the traffic?I’m sorry if I sound harsh and that I have avoided answering all the emails asking for help in this area. The fact is I don’t want to encourage any of you to follow the IM path. I’m not hogging it for myself. It just isn’t a profitable business model and especially for beginners. Learn SEO and get non - IM niches to the top of the serp’s first. Once there you can experiment and flog whatever you like but at least you will have traffic to flog it too. And there is always Adsense if nothing else pans out. Most importantly - learn to question everything and everyone. I don’t mean that you should become a cynical bugger - just have a healthy skepticism about what you hear and learn how to verify the claims you come across for yourselves. I just want to mention this - a congrats of sorts. While I was typing this up Lane left a comment on the PPC Web Spy post. Here is part of it.(1) When I click on each of the advertisers, they don’t necessarily have the specific keyword that I queried for on their list. For instance, I just typed in the keyword phrase: buy perfume. The top advertisers are clearly looking for people looking to buy perfume, as their ad reads “Buy Perfume at Sephora” However when I click the “View Keywords” button, NONE of their ads listed are about perfime — they, like several of the other advertisers listed show ads about other things liked shaving cream and acne. Why don’t I see the keyword that I was searching for?(2) Sort of related to the previous question… Since I don’t see the keyword that I am looking for, how can I tell which advertisers are the lower priced one that I would want to eliminate? Finally someone actually used the tool and realized something fishy is going on with it. Well done Lane. The answer to your questions btw - it’s a piece of crap.Again sorry for misleading everyone with this download - I just had to make a point. Don’t believe everything you read online - check it out yourselves. I don’t mind people calling bullshit on me. It means you are thinking things out. I hope you will all forgive me but I imagine the old feedburner cancellations will start about a minute after posting. I hope not as my intentions were honest.I will provide the search stats for the banner in a few days…. and then it will be gone.Cheers,Griz

Ghostwriting Services - How To Hire A Good Ghostwriter

This article is guest posted by Alan Cheng.

Ghostwriting services are much needed in the online money making world. If you struggle to write or have a phobia with writing, then you definitely need to hire a ghostwriter. This article will show you how to hire a good ghostwriter so that you can increase your online sales.

It’s worth mentioning first of all, that looking for the cheapest price is definitely not the way to select your ghostwriter - unless you’re working on an Adsense site where content doesn’t matter and you’re only concerned about Adsense clicks.

If you need 10 articles (500 words) to be ghostwritten, and the ghostwriter charges $5 for each article, that would mean he will earn $50. But it takes him a minimum of 3 hours to finish them. Why would anyone work 3 hours for $50?

If they’re in India or the Philippines then yes, than would justify the pay. However, you need to be extra careful to see what their standard of English is and the amount of research they will do for your articles or ebook. You are writing content to provide valuable information to your customers and readers. You’re not writing content for the sake of it.

Here is a checklist of things you should go through when hiring a ghostwriter:

Does he have samples to show you his writing style? Does his samples have informative content written in an interesting tone with good English?
Does he have testimonials from his past customers? Do the testimonials sound real?
Search for the ghostwriter’s name on forums. Does anyone mention his name and say they liked the work ghostwritten for them?
Look at the prices the ghostwriter is charging. Do they seem reasonable? If they’re too cheap then you run the risk of receiving poor quality content or a delay in receiving the material. If they are good and cheap, then obviously they will get bombarded with work.
Ask the ghostwriter questions on your ebook or articles that you want written. Look at their responses to your emails. Are they written in good English and do they reply your email in a timely manner?
Ask for referrals from friends or word of mouth. If several people recommend a ghostwriter, check them out and see if you are comfortable with working with them.
Ask the ghostwriter if they can do the research for you or whether they need a lot of hand holding from you. Some ghostwriters will expect you to supply them research material so that they can work on it. This is costing you time. Professional ghostwriters will do the research for you. You need to make sure.
Ask if the ghostwriter can write a sample for you based on your topic. If they say yes, then you need to consider if they’re worth hiring. A good ghostwriter would not write for free to prove themselves. It could mean that they are desperate for work due to lack of clients. Good ghostwriters are very busy.
Does the ghostwriter understand how to write a Search Engine Optimized article? Do they know what LSI is? If they’re knowledgeable in this area then they can write articles for you that can rank high in the search engines.

And finally, if you do get good quality work from a ghostwriter, then make sure you stick with them. The more you work together, the more you will understand each other. They will know how to produce work that you want.

Conclusion

I am not saying that ghostwriters that are charging low prices produce low quality content. But you run the risk of hiring someone who’s first language is not English and therefore produce below average material.

If you fiind that they are good ghostwriters then they will be so busy with work and therefore very likely delay in delivering your ebook or articles.

Think about it. If they are good and cheap, why would people not use them again? Also once they get many orders, it’s only a matter of time that they will increase their prices.

If you want to make money online, then you need good content. Content is what the internet is about. If your readers like your ebook or the articles that you have produced, you will get loyal subscribers and customers. Ghostwriting services are an important part of your business to outsource. They make money for you. So make sure you get this part of your business right.

Preparing Your Own Blogging Network And Split AdSense Revenues With Fair Blogs

Do you want to set up your own blogging network on the fly and automatically share the ad revenue among the contributors? That’s the premise behind Fair Blogs, a new service from Fair Software. The idea is simple: you organize a blogging network or a virtual company through Fair Software, where each contributor enters their own Google AdSense ID and Fair Software then rotates ads from each members’ account accordng to their ownership share of the blog or blog network.Pretty cool huh?

Fair Software CEO Alain Raynaud explains:

If you have a blog with Google AdSense making some money, you can open a project on FairSoftware and hire people. Let’s say you hire one contributor and give him 30% of the project shares.

On your blog, you replace the Google AdSense javascript by a script we provide. Then, every time someone visits your blog, we serve an ad from one of the members of the project, following the share ownership. So in my example, 30% of the time the ad will belong to the new hire. Then Google just pays each person directly.

This is the same model Fair Software has for software projects (minus the Google AdSense part). It launched at TechCrunch 50 with a way to create virtual shares for companies building software, but the model can be applied to other businesses as well. Fair Software offers a quick and dirty way to pull together teams and allocate a portion of revenues based on each person’s contribution.

Fair Blog is a good idea, but limited in its capabilities. At the very least, I’d want to be able to tie the revenue split from AdSense to each blogger’s performance as measured by Google Analytics. So that the percentage each person gets could be based on pageviews and automatically adjust every payout period.

The other thing Fair Blogs needs is to incorporate more ad networks. AdSense is usually the bottom of the barrel in terms of how much it contributes versus other types of blog ad inventory. But it does have the advantage that everybody uses it. Raynaud plans on adding Amazon affiliate accounts next, and then will move on from there.

Talking AdSense optimization in Google Ad Manager

It can be tough to sell advertising in today’s economy. It can be even tougher to figure out how to maximize revenue for each ad impression. Google Ad Manager, our hosted ad serving and management solution for publishers with small direct sales teams, was built to address these issues. Ad Manager helps publishers maximize the value of their ad impressions while reducing ad serving costs. We enlisted the help of Nandu Ramani, Engineering Lead on Ad Manager, to talk about one of Ad Manager’s features that helps publishers maximize the value of their ad impressions: AdSense price optimization. What is the AdSense price optimization feature in Ad Manager? Many publishers don’t sell all of their ad inventory. In these situations, publishers might not serve any ads or might serve less valuable house ads, therefore losing potential earnings. The AdSense price optimization feature in Ad Manager provides an automated solution so publishers will always have an ad to serve in an undersold situation. We also wanted to make sure that when a publisher runs multiple ad networks they are always showing the most valuable ads. For certain individual impressions, AdSense can provide the highest paying ad. When that’s the case, an AdSense ad shows. When that’s not the case, an ad from the highest paying alternative network will be shown. How does the price optimization feature work?In order for AdSense to compete against other ad networks, a publisher must manually enter a CPM for each configured network. We use the CPM entered to determine in real time, on a per impression basis, whether or not an AdSense ad will pay a publisher more. If the AdSense eCPM is greater than the CPM value entered for competing networks, then an AdSense ad will be shown. Additionally, AdSense will never compete with a publisher’s directly-sold inventory. To enable the price optimization feature, all a publisher has to do is check a box when setting up inventory. As a publisher, how much will I earn using AdSense price optimization? It’s hard to predict; the best way to find out is to opt your ad slots into AdSense price optimization and see how AdSense performs for you. With AdSense price optimization, Google will always serve the highest paying AdSense ad available, and will never lower the price of the winning ad, or reduce your earnings from it. When should I use the AdSense price optimization feature? We suggest you opt all of your ad slots into AdSense price optimization. AdSense ads will only appear if they’re able to pay you more than the alternatives, so there’s no risk of losing revenue. We also recommend that you opt your premium placements into placement targeting so AdWords advertisers may specifically choose to bid for space on your website.Sounds good. How do I get started? If you already have an Ad Manager account, go into the inventory tab in your account. For each ad slot where you want to enable AdSense price optimization, click on the name of the ad slot, check the ‘Maximize revenue of unsold and remnant inventory with AdSense’ checkbox, and click ‘Save.’If you don’t already have an account, get started today at http://www.google.com/admanager. Then, when you’re setting up your inventory, make sure to opt all of your ad slots into AdSense price optimization. For more information about AdSense in Ad Manager, check out the following video.Posted by Stephen Kliff - Google Ad Manager Team

AdSense for Feeds Ads Showing in Feedburner Email Updates

Today I was chatting with someone that subscribes to ProBlogger via email through the Feedburner RSS to Email service that we offer readers and they mentioned in passing that they see the AdSense ads in the emails that they receive.

At first I was a little taken aback by this. AdSense don’t allow their ads to be sent via email - it has always been in their Terms of Service. I know this because publishers have been asking for it to be allowed for years.

So on getting home just now I’ve checked my inbox in Gmail to see my latest email updates from my sites and sure enough - there are AdSense ads in them.

Here’s how they look on my photography blog’s daily updates:

Picture 3.png

and another one:

Picture 2.png

The ads are AdSense for RSS ads that I run in my feeds (and have done for a while). They appear at the bottom of each of my posts when someone is viewing them via RSS - but it also appears that they’re showing up in some emails. I say SOME emails because when I view these same emails in my Apple Mail email client I don’t see the ads - but in my Gmail I do.

The person who told me about this also uses Gmail. I’m yet to test it using any other email client but it could just be that they show in Gmail.

I’m not sure if Google’s Feedburner or AdSense or Gmail teams (or a combination of them) are just testing this temporarily or if it is a permanent thing but as a publisher I’m definitely not disappointed by it - it means more ad impressions!

Have you seen AdSense ads like this in RSS to email subscriptions that you have? If so - what email clients have you seen them in? Just Gmail or are they appearing in other email clients too?

Make Money Every Way Possible

Hello friends. First of all, sorry about the last post. Actually, I was getting stuck up in my work too much and was not able to update the blog with the frequency I wanted. I was not able to provide the much needed time to the blog. That is why I decided to stop writing for it.

But it seems, people are using my blog for more than what I thought they use it for. I am really happy to see that. Seeing the comments in the last post I really felt like a celebrity (which I am not). ha ha ha! So, I am back on track again for writing. This time I will not keep any commitments about writing. I will blog when I am feeling like blogging and not just because its been days since I have blogged. I hope that is fine.

Ok, so now coming back to the topic of the subject.

These are the bad times for the economy. And so are for the online advertisers and publishers. Advertisers are trying their best to reduce their costs. Some of them are reducing their advertising budgets as well. This is what affecting the publishers. Publishers are being hit for two reasons. First, the advertisers are reducing their advertising budgets, hence reducing the advertising revenues from advertisers for publishers from networks like Google Adsense. Second, the consumers are trying to save more money and spend less and less. This is what making the publishers less money from advertisers like commission junction, clickbank, market health, leading edge cash and similar other sale based advertising networks.

So, what can publishers do to stop their earnings from dropping day by day.

There are many things which you can do. I have talked about them in my previous post earnings down! what to do?.

Other than this you can do one more thing to earn some money. If you have a site with good PR like PR5 or above then you can appoint somebody to sell links for you on monthly basis. You can find such members in forums like DP and others to sell your links. If you don’t have such high PR sites then you can sell such links for others. Yes, you can contact people and tell them that you can buy so and so links from their so and so pages for so and so price. Then you can sell these links at a higher price in the market places like webmaster forums.

I am also offering such an offer for one of my big and reputed site where I am planning to sell some good links. I will be giving $5 for each link that a person sells for me at $19.90/month. If you also want to sell these links, just contact me for the details. The links are PR4 and available in every niche possible on more than 100 web pages.

So, just sell them at forums and make some money to compensate the downturn. This is the way I am making money. By leveraging.

Asking Dave Taylor about AdSense

AskDaveTaylor.com offers tech support Q&A on subjects ranging from mp3 players to Linux to AdSense. We recently chatted with founder Dave Taylor about his site and his AdSense experience. Inside AdSense: Where did the idea for your ‘Ask Dave Taylor’ site come from?Dave Taylor: There’s a great backstory, actually. I’ve written twenty different books on various business and technical topics, including Teach Yourself Unix in 24 Hours and Creating Cool Web Sites. Each time I’d publish, I would be sure to include my email address and other contact information. Problem was, people would send me email with questions. Lots of email with questions.Over time I found myself answering the same questions again and again and realized that there had to be a better way for readers to search through an archive of already answered questions. I tried an online discussion forum, but it didn’t really work very well (though it did give me an excuse to write my own bbs system from scratch, but that’s another story!).Then early in 2003 this “weblog” thing started to gain a bit of traction. When I first saw how it was built upon the concept of an author writing entries and others being able to add their comments, I realized that it could be ideal for my needs.IA: Why did you join the AdSense program?DT: As a businessperson, I had always viewed my website as a cost center. I mean, you had to pay for hosting, you had to pay for graphic design, you had to pay for Internet connectivity, etc. That was just my mindset. It was a marketing expense and its purpose was lead generation for my consulting and book sales. In mid-2003 my friend told me about this “AdSense thing” and said that he’d been experimenting with it and making some money. So I finally decided that I’d try putting some adverts on my site (I’d been on the Web since 1996 but never had any adverts on my sites until that point). That first month I made more than I expected by simply adding the AdSense adverts to my pages and was surprised as heck. Then it started to grow…That’s when it hit me, that my website was becoming a profit center for my business, not a cost center. I began to pay more attention to the site and published new content on a more regular basis. Within a few months I was earning enough to pay my mortgage, and today my website, and specifically Google AdSense, is a primary revenue stream for my entire company.IA: Can you talk a little about your experience with optimizing your ads?Once I began working with AdSense in earnest, I began to wonder how ad placement, size, color, and design would affect earnings, and how to balance my desire to offer a splendid user experience with the need to simultaneously maximize revenue.Enter A/B testing. I read and talked with many AdSense publishers, tried what they suggested and what had worked for them, fiddled with my own ideas, and generally tried every variation I could imagine to see if I could improve the click-through-rate of my ad blocks. The greatest boosts I saw in clickthrough rate were when I moved the advert into the middle of my articles, when I made sure it had the same color background as the material around it, and when there wasn’t a solid border or other visual element to make the ad stand out from the surrounding content.Truth be told, I’ve also paid close attention to the sites profiled on the AdSense blog, looking at how they integrated ads into their own design and trying to emulate their successful techniques on my own site.IA: Glad to hear you used the blog! Any other optimization tips for our readers?Focus on generating really good content that meets real user needs.Design your blog so that there are minimal distractions for the user.Wrap your blog entry around the Google ad unit and put the ads where users will see them, though make sure you have them visually distinct from your content: trying to trick readers into clicking on ads is a definite no-no and anti-reader too.IA: Thanks for the interview, Dave, and good luck with your site!Do you also have an AdSense success story to share? Let us know.Posted by Arlene Lee - Inside AdSense Team

Adsense & Parked Domains

Adsense & Google Domains Parked

I was going through and adding and changing some of my adsense material this week and I noticed that adsense has added another way to make money to their system. For those who work with Parked domains and driving traffic to these domain you should be happy to see this. It seems that Google has recognized that they can capitalize on advertising on domains that are not being used, but parked for possible later use.

The system will add adsense to parked domains and allow the owner of the domain to earn money when visitor click on the ads that are delivered to them. Man, I have seen other companies doing this. Companies like Parked.com I believe if accepted into their site they will park your domain and deliver concentrated ads to your domains. Don’t quote me on that one. I not into parked domains and I know very little about the entire process. Something that I have not had time to get into yet. Maybe that will be one of my next projects to learn. Anyways, I would go to http://www.google/adsense and check this new program out.

Also check out the quick guide on how to install the system: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=100301&sourceid=aso&subid=ww-ww-et-asui&medium=link.
