Although this is not my favorite method on making money online, it might be good for you if you like answering questions. Rather than answering questions at Yahoo! Answers, Yedda, or AskVille where you don’t get paid, answer questions at these following sites (they’re free to join by the way):

Just Answer

This is probably the answer site that paid you the most for answering questions and you get paid through PayPal.

So here’s how Just Answer works:

You need to apply to become an expert before you can start answering questions and get paid.
Warning, only about 10% of the applicants is accepted. So be prepared.
Fill out your profile and be careful since your profile will pretty much determine how much you will make.
Find questions in your field of expertise and answer it. Once you answer a question the person who posted the question will have to decide if they want to pay for your answer for their offering price or if they would rather pass on it (you see that your profile is very important decision factor here).
You can request payment any time once your balance reaches $20.

Basically there’s no limit of how much a question can be paid. So it’s not uncommon to find $50 question offerings, while the average question offering is $15 each. You get 25% to 50% of this offering, depending on your performance.

Just in case you’re curious, I quote a few questions directly from the sites:

I have tried bum marketing in various niche markets like gizmos, electronics, apparels, ebooks, softwares, medical products, and many others as well.

But bum marketing has worked best for me on the medical products. Specially those medical products, about which, people don’t prefer to discuss with their family/friends. For these type of products, they do their research online. Bum marketing at ezinearticles.com or other similar places are good places to present the product reviews for people to tell them which product actually works and which does not. If you are actually helping them in decision making, you will also make the money.

I have used article marketing for Amazon, eBay (through BANS), Clickbank, LECash and MarketHealth. Out of these last two worked the best.

I use a combination of squidoo lenses, hub pages, knol (recently added) and article directories to promote the product. I submit my articles to only 5 directories which I consider the best. Its just a do-it-and-forget-it process.

Back in the early days of the Internet, you could just throw up a CPM banner and work on increasing the number of impressions. Google AdSense came along and forced publishers to put a little more focus on increasing the click-thru rate. With the arrival of affiliate marketing, the focus is taken even further. You not only need your visitors to notice and click on the ads, you need them to complete a certain action.

As its name implies, T3leads.com is one such pay-per-lead affiliate program. In its own words, T3leads.com sells “generated leads through a unique auction system that allows our affiliates to make maximum profits.” I like money.

Why Work with T3leads.com?

On the surface, it was hard to find anything that really set this affiliate program apart from the rest of the crowd. On the main page, T3leads.com boasts that it has the highest per lead payouts in the industry, highest traffic conversion rates, real-time reporting, and quick bi-weekly payouts.

I’ll discuss the high payouts and the conversion rates in a moment, but the one major thing that I appreciate about T3leads.com is the the bi-weekly payout schedule. This means that you don’t have to too long to get your money from T3leads.com. Contrast this to other networks that only pay out once every 30, 45, or 60 days. It’s also useful that T3leads.com offers a wide variety of payment options, as shown above.

Control Panel and Creatives

Logging into the control panel, you are immediately faced with news from the network, both in Russian and in English. Despite its Russian slant, T3leads.com says that it only accepts American traffic. That can be a little confining, given the international nature of the Internet.

You are able to navigate through the different sections by way of the menu bar at the top of the screen. The websites tab displays the sites that are currently advertising through T3leads.com, broken down based on category. Common categories include home insurance, debt relief, and payday loans.

Other useful areas in the control panel include the T3forum (accessed under Info), Promo (for banners), and Statistics. There are four different kinds of reports available.

Advertiser and Payout Information

Unlike other affiliate programs, T3 does not appear to make any specific mention about how many each advertiser pays when you send a qualified lead their way. A lead is considered generated when a site visitor fills out an “express application” form. This typically consists of a first and last name, email address, state, and zip code.

Going through the different websites and ad creatives, you won’t find any numbers regarding how much each lead is worth. How am I supposed to know that T3leads.com is offering the best payouts in the industry? That’s a claim that every affiliate network makes and it’s starting to get awfully cliche. That said, there is one sentence on the main page that says we can earn “from $5 up to $150 per lead.”

Digging a little deeper, I found that the payout is based on a number of factors: “Age of the customer, his state, credit score, etc.” Advertisers must bid for the lead, and that’s where the “auction” part of the equation comes into play. Going through the FAQ, I wasn’t able to find any specific information about the T3leads.com referral program. Is it a flat payout for referring a new publisher? A percentage of their earned commissions? Just a pat on the back?

Signing Up with T3leads.com

From a logistics point of view, I don’t have too many complaints about T3leads.com. It looks like nearly any other affiliate network and you have a good selection of payment options, each with a different minimum threshold. All of these come with bi-weekly payouts, assuming you meet the threshold.

Where I do have complaints about T3leads.com is in its transparency. I have no idea how much each lead is generating and there is virtually no information about the individual advertisers. I need to know whether advertiser X is potentially more lucrative than advertiser Y. There is quite a bit of difference between promoting something that pays a $0.01/lead and something that pays $150/lead. What about incentivization? T3leads.com needs to provide publishers with this kind of information.

If you tried to setup a new Google ad in your AdSense control panel today, you may have a noticed a new feature call AdSense for Feeds. It seems Google is finally starting to capitalize on its purchase of FeedBurner.

AdSense for Feeds allows Google to send AdSense ads into your RSS feed, provided your RSS feed is powered by FeedBurner. FeedBurner has its own ad network call FeedBurner Ad Network (FAN) but it sucks. I have over 28,000 RSS readers and the FAN ads make less than $5 per month. With that kind of dismal results, it’s no wonder Google killed it. Hopefully, AdSense in the RSS will perform a lot better than FAN ads.

Migrating FeedBurner to Google

To turn on AdSense for RSS, you need to migrate your FeedBurner account into your Google Account. To migrate all of your feeds, and your account from feeds.feedburner.com to Google, email adsense-support-aff@google.com and provide the following information:

Your FeedBurner account username
The Google Account email address you use to sign in to AdSense

Google will migrate your account and contact you with specific steps for you to follow once migration is complete.

Setting Up AdSense for Feeds

Setting up AdSense for Feeds is pretty straight forward. Google offers a lot of options to customize the look and feel of the ads. Ad sizes are 468×60 or 300×250 and is selected automatically by the system. You can choose if you want image ads, text or both, ad frequency, position, post length, colors and a channel to track performance. There’s even an option to make your feed a targetable placement so advertisers can buy ads directly on the feed.

I see this as a logical progressive step for Google. They’ve already taken over advertising on websites. It’s time to take over advertising on RSS as well. Look for Google ads in your mobile phone next. Oh wait. They’ve started that already. I just noticed the “AdSense for Mobile Content” in my AdSense control panel.

After more than two months of testing, Google has finally turned on AdSense for Feeds. Formerly, these were FeedBurner ads. The acquired company has moved its advertising program over to Google’s system, and now any AdSense advertiser can tap into the Feedburner network.

The ads are contextual and come in different sizes and formats. Google Operating System, which noticed that the service is now turned on, reports:

The new AdSense for Feeds option lets you create a new ad unit that has a format automatically selected from 468×60 and 300×250. . . . You can choose if you want image ads, the ad frequency, the position (top or bottom of the post), the colors and a channel that tracks the ad performance.

Hopefully, this will turbocharge ads in feeds, which have not been a stellar performer so far. Does anybody click on those ads? Maybe they should be seen more as branding opportunity, because you certainly see them when you are scrolling through your blog and news feeds.

As most of you know that I started a long term case study on my chemotherapy website around four and half months back. I decided to follow it up every month, and have posted the previous follow-up here, here and here.

This is the 4th follow up for the case study. Here are the current stats on how the site did in July 2008.

Long Term Goal: Making $1000/month after one year
Site in Case: Chemotherapy
Total time till end of July: Around 4 and half months
Money invested till now: $193.98 (till last update only, no new investment)
Total Unique in last month (July): 2296 (1788 last month)
Total page views in month (July): 7603 (6388 last month)
Number of pages listed by Google: 59 (it was 39 for last month)
Revenue in July: Total: $62.61. Out of it, $47.28 is from Adsense and $15.33 from Kontera. (Total of $46.58 for last month)
Total budget available as of now: $382.96 (last month) - $0.00 (used this month) + $62.61 (earned this month) = $445.57

In my previous posts I said that I would do some link building, bum marketing and some more content. But I could not do any of it because I was busy with other stuff. But even without it, it seems it did well on track. Its around 35% increment in earnings. I needed around 50% increase in earnings per month to reach my target of $1000/month at the end of 12th month.

This month I will be actively working on the site to bring it back on track.

I had quickmarked my AdSense account url as https://google.com/adsense and when I just went there I saw this:

Then I retried it a few seconds later and it was ok. Not sure if it was a FireFox error or something on Googles side but 1 thing is for sure that new Firefox error page is no joke and will cost people business if they see it.
