make money online questionsIf you are a regular reader of my blog, then you know that I have started an “Ask Questions” series. In this series, readers can ask any questions they have about internet marketing. All questions have to be regarding online marketing, search engine and making money online and related stuff. Many people have asked me some questions. Some of them have put it in the blog post, while others have in the email.

So this is the first set of answers to questions people asked. Lets see how many I can take up in this series. Remaining questions will be taken in the next series, next week. If you have any questions in your mind and would like to ask me, then ask them in this post now.

Ok, so lets start. The first question from “Sandesh”:

My question, I am new to this (internet markeing?) and I hear a lot about keyword research. While I did get the basic concept, I am unable to understand what next… I mean, after I research a keyword (I still do not know how) what do I do?
Please help.

Sandesh, before you do any keyword research, you need to understand why are you doing the keyword research. There may be many different reasons. May be your want to start a new website in a niche and you are doing the keyword research for it or you plan to do the affiliate marketing through PPC. In the first case you need to do the keyword research to find the keywords on which you can base your content pages. Lets say, you plan to create 100 pages in your niche and want to know what people are actually looking for. So this is the place where keyword research comes in. Do the keyword research, find the keywords and write articles/pages optimized for those keywords.

In the second case, if you are doing keyword research for affiliate marketing through PPC, then your main aim is the find those keywords which does not have very high competition in terms of keyword bidding on search engines. Most of the generic keywords (example: shoes) will have very high bidding rates. You need to find very long tail keywords (example: pink tennis shoes for ladies) where the competition is not very high. You need to find thousands (or at-least hundreds) of them. When you find those long tail keywords, you can start your PPC campaigns based on them. With time you need to optimize your ads, remove non-performing ads and adjust the bidding amount.

Second question was asked by “Dan”:

Can you place referrals for google adwords within an ebook?

No Dan, that is not possible. eBooks are mostly PDF files, and PDF files cannot run any javascript codes. Currently Google Adwords referral code is only available in javascript format, hence it cannot be added in the eBook.

With recent Google Adsense policy changes, now you can put a referrals ads on pages without content. So what you can do is, you can make a web page like this and put adwords code in it. You can then link the page from your ebook. I think this is the best you can do.

Third question is from “Armaan Bhati”:

What you think is the best method to earn money online for a 17 year old student like me.
I am also a blogger. Which ways are better to earn money.
Adsense is not good for me. I earn my most of money form paid post but its making my blogs looking bad.

Armaan, there are many people of your age who are making quite good maount of money in various fields. Here are some of the places you can make it:

The easiest way is to providing various types of services to other webmasters, like content generation, link building etc. Its the quick and instant money.
You can try your hands on affiliate marketing, but it may need some good amount of money and learning. Please remember that you may loose some good maount of money, instead of earning, atleast in the initial phase. So it is sort of big high risk, high returns game.
You can make your full fledged websites based on your interests. This will not give you anything in return in short term, but will help you earn money in long term
The combination of all above. Diversification is the key, which will help you in short as well as long term.

Next question is from “Rasputin”:

Hi, thanks for this opportunity.
Following on from the ‘keyword’ question above, do you have more (adsense) success with popular, high profile keywords, or with traffic from ‘long tail phrases’ that comes from lots of content?
Cheers

It depends on what sort of traffic you can build for the pages. If you have very good resources to build traffic and have very good quality content, then you can surely make more with high profile keywords like finance, health, auto etc.

Next question from “iphonenano”:

well i have 2 question:
- Do you work alone? or have working team?
- Do you wake up in the morning with “GOOGLE cancel my account for no reason” Fear?

I have two set of websites, the first which I manage myself and outsource the work (content as well as SEO). But I also have a company where currenly 16 people are working. They manage an other set of websites. So to answer your question, I work alone as well and have a company too with a working team.

About the question of Google fear of canceling my account, I think I used to have that fear quite some time back, but now I don’t have it. I try to diversify as much as possible. I diversify in terms of account (account on my name, my wife’s name and my company’s name), then I again I try to diversify on advertising networks. So, to answer your question, no, I don’t have that fear. Also, this is the reason I do not disclose my sites to people, that it may get click bombed.

OK, I think this is it for this first set of questions. I will take up more questions next week. If you have any questions, just ask here.
